Grez – Kings Avenue Tattoo

To help in protection against the black plague, which killed off 45% to 50% of the European population in the year 14th century. There may have been a belief that by dressing in a bird-like mask, the wearer could draw the plague away from the patient and onto the garment the plague doctor wore.  The beak of the mask was often filled with strongly aromatic herbs and spices to overpower the “bad air”. This mask was done by Grez, on Conrad, who we are happy to say has been plague free since receiving it.
